NUCLEAR TITS (THE WEEK AT SAN ONOFRE)

Tuesday my class decided to try and dive deeper into the basic of our project by exploring decay through the San Onofre nuclear power plants. Although this trip was said to be entirely educational, it was really more of a bonding experience for our team, bringing us closer together and letting us just hang out with each other outside of the classroom.

The actual campground is a few miles south of the now-retired power plants. For this trip we secured a group site on the cliffs above the beach. To reach the beach we had to walk a few campsites down and then hike down a service road to the water. The beaches there are beautiful; dotted with hundreds of flat rocks, perfect for skipping in the waves. These stones are also great for stacking and decorating your groovy, drift wood love shack.

After the sun sets, it's the perfect time to break out the glow sticks and start swinging them around! Although we were trying to be one large metaphor for nuclear power generation, it ended up with 48 students becoming neon helicopters. Tip: if you're wondering how to capture this on camera, try setting your exposure to 2-5 seconds, aperture to 4.5 and you're ISO to 1600. A tripod will help but since its only 5 seconds max, just stay as still as possible and it'll work out.

All in all, this trip was such a good time: the weather was amazing, the beaches were beautiful and everyone had a blast!
